In the Geretsried town hall there will be positions for street work and asylum in the future.

This decision was not without controversy in the city council.

Geretsried

– On paper it’s about two places.

In the discussion during the most recent city council meeting it became clear: There is much more at stake.

Namely, where the competencies in youth work and integration should lie in the future.

The committee decided again on an application for additional employees in the Geretsried Youth and Social Work Support Association (TVJA) and, on the other hand, on the continuation of the Integration Aktiv project.

The decision from the December meeting of the HFA was reopened

In December, the Main and Finance Committee rejected an application from TVJA.

The club wanted 30 additional staff hours.

The committee, however, decided to add an additional street worker position to the city administration.

This decision, which was made on the initiative of youth representative Felix Leipold (Free Voters), came as a surprise to the TVJA.

Mayor: Want to build up your own expertise in the house

SPD city councilor and TVJA chairwoman Kerstin Halba advocated not creating parallel structures.

Because the TVJA already has a street worker.

Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) countered: “No parallel structures will be created.

We want to build up our own expertise in-house.” It’s not just about youth work, but about much more, including homeless people.

City councilor Patrik Kohlert from the Geretsrieder list wanted to know what the employee will do in this newly created position with the city.

“How is the coordination?

What is the goal?” Müller replied: “The position is the contact person for social issues.

We had previously outsourced many tasks, but we need technical know-how in the city in order to be able to react quickly." Another point of criticism from Kohlert: "The 1.7 positions that the TVJA wanted to have are now becoming one position with the city .

And this despite the fact that the association has explained that working with just one position is not affordable.”

With a majority of 18:11, the CSU, Free Voters and Beate Paulerberg as well as Peter Curtius from the Greens voted for the city position.

Integration Aktiv will be supported by the city until the middle of the year

Since the municipality did not respond to TVJA's request for additional positions, the sponsoring association returned the coordination of the asylum helper group to the town hall at the end of the year, as reported.

Without the additional staff, the association said it would no longer be able to carry out the tasks of the asylum helper group.

What will happen next with the Integration Aktiv (IAG) project has been clear since Tuesday evening: As of June 30th, the funding that the city had previously provided will be discontinued.

The “Migration and Coordination” office in the town hall will then take over the tasks.

The voting result was the same: the SPD, Geretsrieder List as well as Josefine Hopfe, Gabriele Riegel and Dr. were in the minority.

Detlev Ringer from the Greens.

Sonja Frank: Integration forums “nice to have”

Halba had previously explained in the meeting that a position with the city was not enough for IAG.

She appealed for the sponsoring association to retain a position, for example to hold the integration forum.

Vice Mayor Sonja Frank (Free Voters) said: “We must always focus on integration, but we must not limit it to this point.” She described the integration forums that the association has been organizing for several years as “nice to have” .

You could “cut it back a bit”.

Dr.

Elmar Immertreu (Geretsrieder Liste) said about the whole problem: “It's always difficult between people.

But we are big enough to deal with it.” In addition, “we didn’t talk to each other enough beforehand.”

“And I mean you too, Mr. Mayor.” The dishes had been smashed.

The town hall boss did not let this accusation sit.

“I reject that,” said Müller.

“The city had an obligation to act.” Immertreu then withdrew his comment and apologized to the mayor several times.

On Wednesday, Halba was disappointed in an interview with our newspaper: “It was predictable that it would turn out like this.” Something like that also unsettles the employees of the sponsoring association.

At the same time, she emphasized: “We want to work together, for Geretsried and the people in Geretsried.

But that has to happen at eye level.”
