Karina Milei went to Deputies. The list of public companies is lowered from 36 to 29.

After hours of uncertainty, comings and goings, a delegation from the Executive landed on Thursday afternoon in Congress headed by Karina Milei, and minutes later a counterproposal

to unblock the privatization chapter reached the phones of opposition deputies: they go down from 36 to 29 the list of companies and segment them into different articles to facilitate their approval.

As

Clarín said,

the axis of the negotiations revolved around the point of privatizations and delegated powers, workhorses in which the Executive did not want to give in but has a high chance of falling on the premises.

Although the ruling party agreed to remove YPF from the list of 41 companies and that other companies, such as Arsat, Nucleoeléctrica and Banco Nación, could not be 100% privatized but could become joint ventures, the agreement was far away.

Of the remaining 36,

the ruling party proposes in this new version a final list of 29.

They withdraw the Investment and Foreign Trade Bank (BICE), the Mint, Military Manufacturing, Coastal Radio, the Radio and TV Service of the University of Córdoba, the New Generation Space Vehicle, and the Dionisio Water Mining Deposits.

But the main ones, with which the Executive campaigned, continue.

Among them, General Administration of Ports;

Argentine Water and Sanitation (AySA);

Argentinian airlines;

Correo Argentino, Ferrocarriles Argentinos;

and Telam.

However, instead of maintaining a single annex with the entire list.

He divides it into four annexes, also referenced in four different articles.

This facilitates voting in the chamber because those who oppose the privatization of a specific company could, for example, vote in favor of one of the articles and reject another.

The new proposal establishes that before carrying out a privatization, the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, in coordination with the General Audit Office of the Nation, “

must prepare and make public a comprehensive report

on the company and/or society wholly or majority owned by the state. in question, which will contain

detailed information on its patrimonial, economic, financial, and operational aspects.

Said report must be sent to the Bicameral Commission.

In that sense, the new text specifies the powers that this Bicameral will have.
