The international panorama regarding tourism "is in turmoil, with numbers relating to international travel reaching 1.29 billion in 2023, marking a notable increase compared to 2022".
The Bit Observatory confirms this on the basis of the latest UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) data, presenting the next edition of the International Tourism Exchange (4-6 February Allianz Mico).
In this context, Europe confirms itself as the top travel destination for international tourists (700 million arrivals, equal to 54% of the total), and Italy "is well positioned, with figures for 2023 clearly growing".
In fact, in the first 11 months of the year, 118.2 million arrivals and 397.5 million presences were recorded (+5.4% and +0.7% respectively compared to 2022, same period), with a significant increase in the internationalization rate.
Italy confirms itself as the most desired destination, "especially among the high spending segment" also according to Euromonitor.
And according to calculations by the Bocconi/Str Sdati Observatory, 2024 is the hotel sector that will be on the podium in Italy for growth in volumes in terms of profitability, with a RevPar (the hotel performance indicator) of 20% more than in 2022. In particular, the luxury segment, with 5-star and 5-star luxury hotels which recorded a 15% increase in turnover in 2022 and a +5% compared to 2019.
Over 1,100 exhibitors from 66 countries are expected at the 44th edition of Bit.
