Sachsenkam – 15 elementary school students and their bus driver escaped with horror.
On Wednesday afternoon an Opel crashed into the school bus.
On Wednesday, January 31st, a 53-year-old from Sachsenkam was driving his Opel on Tölzer Straße towards the B 13 around 11:30 a.m. Then the accident happened: On a curve, he got too far into the oncoming lane and drove into the left front of the vehicle oncoming school bus.
Bus driver slams on the brakes and tries to evade
“The bus driver initiated emergency braking and steered as far to the right as possible to prevent anything worse from happening,” reports Police Chief Inspector Lars Werner.
“The bus hit the garden fence of an adjacent property.”
The 15 elementary school students and the driver of the bus as well as the person who caused the accident were uninjured.
The damage to the bus amounts to around 20,000 euros, the Opel had to be towed away with a total loss of 5,000 euros.
Alcohol test shows value above the permitted alcohol limit
According to the police, an alcohol test carried out on site showed that the person who caused the accident was above the permitted alcohol limit.
The police then confiscated the 53-year-old's driver's license.
A blood sample was also carried out.
