Germering - The Orlando Hall of the Stadthalle will be the center of carnival events for nine hours on February 3rd.

From 10 a.m. the “who's who” of the region's children's and youth carnival groups will meet there with free admission.

The major event was set up by Fun Unlimited, supported by the Upper Bavaria regional association in the Association of German Carnival (BDK).

The participation advisory board of the large district town of Germering is also on board.

A good atmosphere is guaranteed

“We will have a lot of fun,” says Stephan Patsch, board member of Fun Unlimited (FU).

Also about the fact that the participation advisory board supports this event, one of the first of its kind in the district.

Advisory board members will ensure that dancers and visitors are provided with cake.

The “Sapore” restaurant will serve visitors with food and drinks.

The proceeds from the event go to the hospice in Germering.

Rewarded for effort

The idea came about through an experience in the FU groups.

Patsch said they were invited to a guard meeting with the junior groups.

“We were all looking forward to the performances, but there were hardly any visitors.” Only parents and other groups created a good atmosphere.

But for Patsch, that was reason enough to think.

“All the children and young people should be rewarded more for all their efforts.” More audiences, a little more public applause for the shows, is a great thing.

Patsch therefore contacted city marketing.

Martin Rattenberger, the head of Office V for Youth, Family, Seniors, Social Affairs and Schools, quickly came on board.

“That’s how we got involved,” explains Ortrun Obermeier, chairwoman of the Germeringer Participation Advisory Board.

The connection between young dancers and the social concerns of the advisory board was created.

Participation can affect everyone

In 2019, the advisory board was formed from the existing senior citizens' and disabled advisory boards.

A number of concerns overlapped.

But a problem remained.

“Many people cannot imagine what is meant by a participation advisory board,” says Obermeier.

There would still be too many clichés.

But participation does not only begin at a set age or with a certain diagnosis.

Participation can affect everyone - including young people, if they are only able to move to a limited extent after an accident.

This needs to be made more widely known, said Obermeier.

“That’s why we’re taking part in this meeting of the children’s carnival guards.”

Colorful program

The Upper Bavaria regional association in the German Carnival Association and its president Peter Steinberger were responsible for putting together the children's and youth guards performing.

A colorful program has been put together in which many gardeners from the district take part.

In addition to FU, the Olchinger Tanzfreunde, the Bruck Local Guild, the Fürstenfeldbruck Carnival Friends and the TSV Moorenweis are also taking part.
