To the young people of Naples and Campania "I say to have the courage to take your life into your own hands, not to compromise with anyone".
The bishop of Naples Don Mimmo Battaglia said this on the sidelines of the public assembly for the presentation of the Anti-Camorra Committee for legality which took place in Naples.
To adolescents "above all I tell them - continued Battaglia - to live their lives with dignity, which means not entrusting their conscience to anyone. I tell them to live and love life and above all to be able to believe that a better future is possible for everyone, but we need to have the courage to put our face forward and take sides. This applies to young people and to each of us, because everyone must have the courage to stand next to these young people and have the dimension of credibility".
The bishop, still speaking on the sidelines, underlined that "the first mafia, and therefore the Camorra here in Naples, nestles in indifference and asociality, in doing nothing, in perhaps turning the other way. This is the reason so even silence, in this sense, kills. To those who believe they manage the territory with violence and bombs we can offer our pain and anger, but never our surrender. We say to them that if they need us, if they need hope, we are here, if they cannot believe in a better land we can give them the fragrance of the beauty of this land which is not just a dream, but above all it is the dignity of the life we carry within us".
