The detectives of the central unit in the Jerusalem district uncovered criminal activity in the east of the city and arrested the operator of a drug station, which operated under the guise of a car wash business.

In addition, three other suspects who worked there were arrested.

The central unit in the Jerusalem district recently opened an investigation into suspicion of running a drug distribution station, which operated in a car wash complex in the A-Tor neighborhood in the east of the city.

During the undercover investigation conducted by the police, it became clear that the director of the drug station employed adults and minors, residents of East Jerusalem, who worked in shifts distributing drugs under the guise of working in car washes.

During the last two weeks, the IMR detectives arrested several drug users who were "customers" of the disguised drug station, as well as three of the employees of the place (two adults and a minor, residents of A-Tor).

The three were arrested at the drug station and taken for questioning.

One of them has already been charged with drug trafficking.

Driving under the influence of drugs

Despite the arrest and because he lacked employees, the detectives recognized that the owner of the drug station began to sell the drugs himself at the washhouse.

This week, the detectives arrested the main suspect in the management of the drug station (21 years old, a resident of A-Tor), while he was driving his vehicle, which was allegedly used for the drug deliveries.

In his possession, thousands of shekels in cash and a substance suspected to be a hashish drug were seized.

In addition, during the examination conducted on him, it became clear that he was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest.

The suspect's detention was extended by six days on Tuesday.

At the same time as the investigation and the criminal procedure, an administrative procedure was also started to close the washing station that served as a cover for the criminal activity.

The commander of the Jerusalem District, Superintendent Doron Turgeman, signed an administrative closure order for the business for 30 days yesterday (Wednesday).

The warrant was posted at the business.

In the background to this case, the police conducted tests which show that the trade in dangerous drugs is one of the issues that most disturbs the residents of East Jerusalem.

These drugs also reach young people and the drug trade creates additional crime and significant damage to the residents' lifestyle and public health.
