Keteri Maoz, CEO of the Ammunition Hill heritage site, warned Yossi Shelley, CEO of the Prime Minister's Office, that the site is in danger of being closed - this was announced today (Thursday) here by Network B.

In the letter he sent to Shelly, Maoz warned of a cut in the site's budget, and according to him, at the meeting of the board of directors, they intend to recommend the immediate closure of the site.

Maoz also wrote in the letter that last year the Ammunition Hill budget was cut by one million shekels and this year the budget will be cut from 4 million shekels to only 2.5 million shekels.

"If there is no change in the immediate term, we will be forced with great pain and a burning sense of failure towards the generations who built this place here with blood and sweat, to hand over the keys to the center to you," added Maoz.

"Perhaps you will be able to manage it better than us at the level of the budget that you designate for 2024 and meet all the requirements of the law as written in the book of laws."

"In 2022, the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage understood the need for a minimum budget of NIS 5 million to maintain the place at a basic level and supported the approval of the center's budget, and it was right to support any additional needs," Maoz explained in the letter.

"Now the Prime Minister's Office is reducing NIS 1 million from last year's fixed budget (the 2023 budget) from NIS 5 million to NIS 4 million and this year, without a tremor, the budget has been cut to NIS 2.5 million."

The Prime Minister's Office responded: "As part of the decision to increase budgets for ministries dealing with security and war, a horizontal cut of 10% was made in all institutions budgeted through the Prime Minister's Office. Nevertheless, we will work to make up for this institution and others part of the cut."
