The municipality of Ismaning is creating more space this year: the first departments are moving into the town hall extension, and the high school is also growing.

Ismaning – The community of Ismaning is a beautiful place with a great quality of life.

But there are places that are uncomfortable.

2024 will be dedicated to eliminating this lack of space in the town hall administration and expanding the high school.

For years, the community looked for ways to create enough space for the ever-growing administration.

The listed castle is not allowed to be expanded and the outbuildings could only have been expanded subtly.

That's why the community is building a new administrative headquarters on the other side of the grove, the Technical Town Hall.

The topping-out ceremony has already been celebrated (we reported);

This summer, important administrative areas such as IT and the building department are moving in.

“We will then be prepared for the future,” says Mayor Alexander Greulich (SPD).

High school is growing

The Kallmann Museum is scheduled to reopen in the fall.

The facility in the castle park is known nationwide and will begin operations at the end of the year with an additional exhibition room and more space for events such as regular concerts.

The museum, which has existed for 30 years, is being completely renovated and expanded.

This means that the Museum Mile, as well as the municipal administration located a few meters away, are fit for the future.

“We’ll make ten crosses when the museum construction site is finished,” says Greulich.

The mayor and the local councilors were given an unexpected task on their agenda: the high school.

The new school began operations in the rooms of a former conference hotel in 2017, and seven years later the house is already bursting at the seams.

The number of people transferring from primary school to secondary school is far above forecast, and that is why it is better to increase the number of pupils today rather than tomorrow.

Last year, the northern part of the former conference center was demolished.

“We have to expand at full speed,” says Greulich, making the need clear.

Celebrations in fishermen's houses

There are also two larger festivities in the fishermen's houses area.

On May 1st, the first maypole will be erected in the district after the pandemic, and a little later the foot and cycle bridge over the Isar will be opened to traffic.

This is only a few meters away from Fischerhäuser and provides a direct connection to the Garching research campus including the subway station there.

For students from Ismaning and public transport users from Fischerhäuser, the bridge away from major roads represents a quantum leap.

In addition, the municipality of Ismaning will set the course for municipal lighthouse projects.

The present planning for the seniors' residential complex on Adalperostraße is about concluding the subsidy agreements and implementing the project.

One step back is the community's third primary school, which is to be built between the future seniors' housing complex and the sports hall on Aschheimer Straße.

In the current planning phase zero, the required rooms are being determined.

The number of students at the two existing primary schools is already sufficient to be divided into three houses.

The school at Kirchplatz in particular is longing for an addition to the Ismaning school family.
