Two people traveling by truck tried to avoid a National Gendarmerie road control in Jujuy.
Security personnel began a chase, which ended on a dirt road.
There they verified that the vehicle
was transporting 620 kilos of cocaine
.
The cargo was seized and two people were detained.
The episode took place this Wednesday, when the gendarmes managed to find the mega shipment after an
extensive intelligence task
.
The information was clear: the drugs, coming from Yuto (100 kilometers northeast of San Salvador de Jujuy), were going to be moved to another location.
The destination was San Pedro, after a 95-kilometer trip south.
After several hours of surveillance, members of Squadron 60 of the National Gendarmerie of San Pedro, in that province in northern Argentina, identified the suspicious truck on National Route 34, at the entrance to Libertador General San Martín, a city located halfway of the planned route.
Thus, the road control asked the truck driver to slow down so he could be registered.
However, the driver of the large vehicle
accelerated and evaded the
gendarmes station at full speed along the national highway.
On alert, the Gendarmerie personnel began a fierce chase.

At one point during the journey, the truck diverted onto an alternative dirt road to flee, but was
ambushed by security patrols
.
And, although both crew members wanted to continue the escape on foot, they were detained a few meters away.
When they searched the truck with specialized dogs, they found that the information was accurate: they found 11 packages packed in consortium bags that were located in a section of a bunk bed located in the bed of the truck.
When they opened the packages, they found that they contained 601 rectangular packages.
The analysis came back positive for cocaine.
The total weight of what was seized was
628,384 kilos.
The Federal Prosecutor's Office of Jujuy ordered the seizure of the drugs and seized the truck that transported it.
Both involved were brought to justice.
