California is preparing to experience two atmospheric rivers in the south of the State that will cause intense rains and gusts of wind.
More than 20 million people are under flood alerts as of Thursday in San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland.
Atmospheric rivers occur when concentrated moisture in the atmosphere meets strong, fast winds to displace it.
These airborne rivers can extend for thousands of kilometers.
It is expected that the first of these phenomena will hit the State this Thursday and the next will arrive during the weekend.
