The Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday that it had shot down 11 Ukrainian drones during the night and Thursday morning over Russian regions bordering Ukraine.
“Tonight, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with aerial drones against sites on Russian territory was foiled
,” the ministry said in a statement.

Around 03:30 GMT, four other Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region and two drones were shot down over the Voronezh region, according to the same source.
In recent months, Ukraine has increased its attacks in Russia but generally focuses on border regions such as Belgorod.
On December 30, Belgorod, the regional capital, was hit by the deadliest attack on Russian soil since the start of the offensive on February 24, 2022. Twenty-five people were killed, a hundred injured and several hundred others had been evacuated.
