The municipality of Neubiberg joins the Wind Power Working Group (ARGE) in the Munich Southeast district.

The local council decided this with a large majority at its most recent meeting.

Neubiberg

– Behind the cumbersome word construct of an “ARGE Wind LKM Südost” lies the municipality’s intention to work with the municipalities of Hohenbrunn, Putzbrunn and Grasbrunn to “advance the expansion of wind turbines as a sustainable energy source on an inter-communal basis”.

An initial meeting between the four municipalities had already established the basic direction.

Overall, the district municipalities set ambitious goals for reducing emissions at their climate protection conference in 2023.

The Neubiberg local council has now also agreed to the intermunicipal project with the local neighbors.

Without wind power, Neubiberg cannot achieve climate goals

“Wind power towers above everything,” said Mayor Thomas Pardeller (CSU).

“If we don’t succeed in establishing wind power, then it will be very difficult to achieve our ambitious climate goals.” Neubiberg has a problem: it cannot show its own locations for wind turbines.

From the clear majority point of view of all the groups represented, it is now all the more important to take the next steps.

The new ARGE is intended to define a strategic expansion plan in the partner communities, analyze possible forms of participation and obtain relevant reports for securing and planning the location.

The municipality of Neubiberg also wants to get the district on board when it comes to risk sharing for such a large project.

Create jobs and promote investment

The initial budget provided for the current financial year is still modest at 7,500 euros.

However, it shouldn't stay that way.

Mayors and administration emphasized the lack of alternatives to the approach.

The wind turbines therefore enable the generation of almost emission-free electricity, would make a decisive contribution to the diversification of Neubiberg's energy mix and, according to the municipality, are an essential measure to improve municipal finances.

In addition, the wind energy projects also offer value creation synergies in the form of new jobs and regional investments.

“We can only support it,” said Green Councilor Thomas Maier happily.

SPD parliamentary group spokeswoman Elisabeth Gerner sees it the same way: “Great and please with broad citizen participation.”
