“Penzberg remains colorful”: This is the motto under which a rally is being called for in downtown Penzberg on Sunday, February 4th.

The demonstrations are for democracy and tolerance.

Penzberg – The demonstration “Penzberg remains colorful” planned for this Sunday, February 4th, received a lot of support in advance.

Clemens Meikis reports on this.

He, Gianna Lisci and Bärbel Scholz registered the rally for 1,000 participants with the authorities as private individuals last week (we reported).

The demo on Sunday starts at 2 p.m. on the Penzberg town square.

The participants then move through Bahnhofstrasse.

“Received an incredible amount of positive feedback”

“We received an incredible amount of positive feedback,” says Meikis.

He felt a need from many people and wanted to make a statement.

He believes that the high level of popularity is also due to the fact that the call for demos is worded positively.

The subtitle for “City of 100 Nations: Penzberg remains colorful” reads “United in Diversity and Tolerance” and “For Democracy – Against Exclusion” on the posters.

The initiators deliberately did not include the words “against right-wing extremism” in their call for the demo.

Meikis also doesn’t mention the abbreviation “AfD” in his conversation with the local newspaper.

It's about diversity and tolerance, "that we all stand together," he says instead.

It is important to the initiators that it is a non-partisan alliance

It is also important to the initiators that it is a non-partisan rally.

However, there is support from the democratic parties and groups, as well as from social organizations and religious communities in Penzberg.

Meikis does not want to single out any individual.

Train through Bahnhofstrasse in Penzberg

It is planned that the initiators will welcome the demonstrators on the town square with a short speech on Sunday at 2 p.m.

It is planned that a non-partisan speaker will speak afterwards.

There may also be a musical interlude.

The participants then move through Bahnhofstrasse, first to the roundabout at “Berggeist”, then back and further to the junction with Ludwig-März-Strasse.

The rally is scheduled to end at the town square around 4 p.m.
