There was great joy on both sides: Anton Stengl (l.) and Reinhard Lauterbach from Moosburg recently handed over the donations they had collected as St. Nicholas and Krampus.

In their very own voluntary work, a St. Nicholas service, two friends collect donations for a good cause every year in Moosburg.

Now another record has been broken.

Moosburg

– For the fifth time in a row, Anton Stengl and Reinhard Lauterbach (both 49) were out and about in and around Moosburg last Advent to collect donations for charitable purposes as St. Nicholas and Krampus.

The Freisinger Tagblatt asked Lauterbach how they came to this unusual volunteer position - and heard stories of great luck and a lot of sweat.

Freisinger Tagblatt:

Mr. Lauterbach, together with Anton Stengl you collected 2,700 euros through St. Nicholas services during Advent.

How many living rooms have you stood in for this?

Reinhard Lauterbach:

(

) About 40, plus at a few Christmas parties for clubs and companies.

The willingness to donate was very good.

We don't ask for a specific amount in advance; everyone can give as much as they can afford for a good cause.

2700 euros is fantastic and a new record for us.

How did you even get involved in this campaign?

That was Anton's idea.

Everyone should volunteer somewhere in life.

One person works as a football coach, the next perhaps at the food bank or in the emergency services.

And his wish had been to make Santa Claus for a long time.

I'm Krampus because he just asked me at some point and I said yes (

).

He takes a week off every year to do this, and I do the same - that's our contribution to the community.

Home visits as Santa Claus and Krampus are certainly entertaining.

Which scenes do you remember particularly fondly?

Every year I remember the fireplaces.

Some people have them standing in the living room, and while the whole family is often sitting there in their T-shirts, you march in in full gear with a coat, beard and hat - and stand next to the wood-burning stove, where you're sweating everywhere runs down.

We always have fun with it beforehand.

At some addresses we still remember where the fireplace is from last year (

).

Otherwise, what will be remembered most is the warmth of the people.

We can be there with all social classes.

And I think it's great that many people book us again and again - as long as the children aren't too old yet.

How do you choose your donation recipients?

We simply think: Who could use the money?

This time it was, on the one hand, the Stille Hilfe eV association: We noticed that people are helped there when someone can no longer pay the electricity bill, or perhaps the man has died and the family can no longer make ends meet .

Or the installment loan can no longer be paid.

We chose the Anneliese Schweinberger House because we donated

to the Juliane Maier House (

neighbouring Lebenshilfe facilities in Moosburg, editor's note ) five years ago and we always want to change things up.

How do you feel when you hand over the donation checks?

We're lucky that we've managed to raise such an impressive sum again.

You can see the reward on their faces when they are handed over.

A resident of the Anneliese Schweinberger House was present at the handover and was very happy because our money could be used to finance a trip.

Something like that motivates you to keep going next season.

Actually there is nothing more beautiful!
