Three-year-old twins died after being found early Friday unconscious in a car parked on Interstate Highway I-95 in Miami, Florida.
The driver was seriously injured after jumping from an overpass when police arrived, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Police said they received 911 calls around 2 a.m. about the minors, a boy and a girl, who were in the back seat of a vehicle parked at the Golden Glades Interchange, where I-95 merges. with Florida's Turnpike.
It is one of the busiest points in the south of the state.
People who were at the scene tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on them.
When officers and firefighters arrived, the woman jumped from the overpass onto the train tracks.
The children were taken to a hospital and were pronounced dead there.
No information has been provided about the cause, but there were no visible marks or wounds, Detective Ángel Rodríguez told the Miami Herald.

According to police, she is in critical condition.
Authorities said they have not determined the relationship between the woman and the children.
No one's identity has been revealed.
“At this time, our investigators are working to reconstruct this tragic incident,” Detective Andre Martin told reporters.
“There should be no incident that results in the loss of a child, especially a three-year-old.
We really hope we can find out what happened.
And why would something as tragic as this happen,” he added.
