A memorable performance: In the middle of the corona pandemic, the Bavarian Desperados played an open-air event in Jesenwang.

The TSV Jesenwang sports ball is coming up.

A top atmosphere is guaranteed again - to which the Bavarian Desperados will also contribute their part.

Jesenwang – Also on stage: Markus Fraunhofer, mayor’s son, local council member – and guitarist of the young Jesenwanger band.

Around seven years ago, the sports club provided the reason why the Bavarian Desperados exist today.

“The president asked us at the time whether we had a band,” says Fraunhofer.

We were looking for musical accompaniment for a TSV celebration.

The guitarist is no longer sure how the president even came up with the idea that Fraunhofer could have a band.

The fact is: “We didn't have any, but I just said that I would get two or three people together.” No sooner said than done.

The Bavarian Desperados made their debut at the sports club's celebration.

In addition to Fraunhofer, singer Lorena Hillebrand and guitarist and bassist Maximilian Bauer were the first band members.

A short time later, guitarist and bassist Johannes Drexler, keyboardist and accordion player Michael Drexler and drummer Benedikt Schlemmer joined them - the sextet that still exists today.

And of course it didn't just stop at appearing for TSV.

“We play at birthday parties, weddings, carnival balls,” says Fraunhofer.

Cover versions of big hits are on the program when the 21 to 26 year old musicians get the mood going.

There are no original compositions.

But you don't need that at all.

The repertoire?

“Adapted to the occasion and everything that is desired.”

The six Jesenwangers, who have known each other since childhood and used to play together in parlor music groups, have a weakness for rock'n'roll.

“But we also play anything else that people want to hear.”

Of the numerous performances, two remain particularly memorable for the guitarist.

“On the one hand, of course, at our 1250th anniversary celebration,” he says – and means the community’s two-day anniversary celebration last year.

Right in the middle of town on the stage on the thoroughfare - it's clear that this was unique for the Bavarian Desperados.

In the Corona period

The sextet had already had a second memorable appearance for Fraunhofer - in the middle of the Corona period.

“Back then we had a big stage set up behind the bakery at Drexler Bakery,” he remembers.

Because of the pandemic, there was a limited number of spectators.

But that didn't dampen the good atmosphere at the open air.

On Saturday at the Sportsmen's Ball, it's time to get the room boiling again.

From 7.30 p.m. the TSV will be having fun in the community center – with the Bavarian Desperados around Markus Fraunhofer.

Despite their young age, the six musicians already have experience in this discipline - and not just because of their debut concert.

Markus Fraunhofer: “It’s not our first appearance at the ball.”
