The permanent speed camera on Spannleitenberg went into operation over a month ago.

Since then it has triggered thousands of times.

Residents now thanked Mayor Paeplow.

Kirchseeon - The first stationary speed camera in the Ebersberg district on Spannleitenberg in Kirchseeon is having an impact just a few weeks after it went into operation - probably also because of the broad public debate.

The number of speeding violations is decreasing.

But there are still incorrigible speeders.

Constant speed cameras in Kirchseeon: the number of speed offenders is falling

According to the current data from the second evaluation, a total of 4,218 procedures were reported between January 1st and January 25th.

From December 20, 2023, when the speed camera went into operation, 3,112 speeding violations were registered on twelve days until the end of 2023.

So: the number of speed offenders is decreasing every day or week.

Still, it's shocking: In January, three drivers were caught with speeds between 51 and 60 kilometers per hour too fast.

Two drivers were even going more than 60 kilometers per hour too fast.

The speed camera takes measurements on the federal highway at Spannleitenberg in the city center, i.e. in an area where the speed limit is 50.

By the way, flashes are flashed on both sides.

In total, around 350,000 vehicles were registered at the measuring point in January.

Because of the improvement in the traffic situation: citizens thank the mayor

“I’m pleased to see that the numbers are declining,” is the reaction of Kirchseeon’s mayor Jan Paeplow (CSU).

This is an encouraging sign that “our measures, not least through public reporting, are having an impact.”

The mayor speaks of positive feedback from residents who noticed a significant improvement in the traffic situation.

“Some even thanked us for installing the speed camera.” According to the head of the town hall, the measurement makes a noticeable contribution to increasing traffic safety.

However, the numbers would still have to be adjusted for deployments of rescue service, police and fire service vehicles.

By the way, it is interesting that more speeding violations were registered away from town, i.e. in the direction of Ebersberg.

Speed measurements also outside built-up areas on Spannleitenberg

The speed camera obviously has an impact even after the town sign.

In the period from the time the system was put into operation until January 31st, the police carried out a speed measurement on Spannleitenberg outside the urban area in the direction of Ebersberg.

The speed there is reduced to 70 kilometers per hour.

“In the course of three hours of measuring time, with a run of 1,088 vehicles, 14 vehicles were measured as being too fast,” said the police when asked by the EZ.

The numbers correspond to a complaint rate of 1.29 percent.

“This is considered to be rather minor.” The measuring point “normally” has a few more complaints.

However, this often depends on the day and time.

“But possibly also from the stationary measuring system.

However, making more precise statements about this “would be speculation,” according to the Ebersberg police station.
