Both sides repeatedly use drones in the Ukraine war.
A video is said to show a Ukrainian drone attacking a Russian tank.
Kiev – Most recently, Russia suffered heavy losses in the Ukraine war.
Moscow lost more than 1,000 soldiers in just one day.
The Russian army had to withdraw from the region around Bakhmut.
Now new video footage is said to show how a Ukrainian drone forces the crew of a Russian tank to flee their vehicle.
Ukrainian drone attack on Russian tank: Putin's forces have to flee
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Ukrainian activist Serhii Sternenko on Tuesday (January 30).
According to him, Russian forces opened fire on Ukrainians from a tank in the small town of Avdiivka (near Donetsk).
After a drone hit, the Russian military tried to continue.
But after a short time you can see on the video how they have to leave their vehicle.
The tank was apparently no longer roadworthy.
“The drone strike saved the lives of our soldiers,” Sternenko wrote, expressing his gratitude to the drone pilots.
“A drone cannot always destroy a tank,” the Ukrainian activist continued.
“But you still have to attack tanks with drones.”
Drone attacks are an effective tool for both sides in the Ukraine war
Drones have emerged as an effective means of attacking over long distances in Ukraine.
The so-called FPV drones in particular are helpful for the armed forces - and in some cases have already become more important than artillery.
The pilot wears glasses and controls the drone from the first person perspective.
Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhailo Fedorov even called these drones “game changers” that destroy Russian equipment en masse.

These explosive so-called “kamikaze drones” are inexpensive to produce and capable of attacking even heavy battle tanks.
A fundraising campaign launched by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to purchase new drones had raised around $6.3 million in just a few days, which will enable the purchase of 10,000 FPV drones.
It is not known whether this is what the video is about.
The Russian military also uses drones in many places.
