The unprecedented Art Road Show of the multifaceted creative genius of Cleto Munari culminates in Bologna, celebrating half a century of experimentation in the arts and design: the beginning of his career coincides in fact with the birth of ArteFiera in Bologna, sealing the realization, all t the beginning of the Seventies, of a ferment that would bring Italian creativity to the international spotlight.
The works of Munari, 93 years old, will be on display in Bologna from 3 February to 2 March with '50 years of visions'.
Galleria Cavour is the venue designated to host the event: accessing from the entrance of its elegant windows, the exhibition will extend to the frescoed rooms of Palazzo Vassè Pietramellara.
The tour will then continue to Dubai, Paris, New York and Seoul.
Contemporary Concept, curated by Daniela Brignone, will propose a formula that evolves and goes beyond the static concept of the museum exhibition, transformed to dialogue with the "genius loci" of the city.
Bologna will welcome the innovations of this great interpreter of contemporary design by exhibiting for the first time, together with its historical icons, new furnishings and accessories.
The attitude to experimentation and openness, without boundaries of time, space and matter, has allowed the designer to refine his very personal aesthetic, resulting in a very vast production that includes furniture, carpets, ceramics, glasses, pens, vases and jewels.
From the design of the first object with his mentor Carlo Scarpa, followed by the meeting and collaboration with Ettore Sottsass, "his search for the uniqueness of things takes shape as a natural continuation of his yearning for beauty".
