For Mayor Ullrich Sander (independent), the former tennis facility on Winninger Weg in Taufkirchen is the best option for asylum accommodation.
He has now made that clear once again.

– The alternatives are out of the question because they would influence village life.
At the beginning of January, the district office confirmed: Construction of the container accommodation should begin in the middle of the year.
The location decision has led to a new wave of protests among some Taufkirchen residents.
As early as April 2023, residents spoke out against the construction in an online petition.
Probably also because of objections from the population, the district office halved the capacity of the planned accommodation from 300 to 168 places.
A festival area is not an option for Sander: events would suffer as a result
The residents don't understand why the community didn't submit the festival meadow or Karwendelstrasse as better options to the district office.
Sander argues: The municipality would have discussed all options with the authorities.
“Occupying the festival meadow would have a consequence for community life.” Taufkirchen would have to forego the fire brigade’s solstice celebrations, anniversaries and the village festival on the square.
“And when there was an air dome on the square like years ago, it was ghostly deserted.” No children would have played in the playground anymore, no one would have gone for a walk there.
The local council rejected Karwendelstrasse because integration is not possible in the commercial area.
In addition, the development costs there are too high for the district office.
Sanders' conclusion: The only option left is by post.
