The Essonne criminal court sentenced a 41-year-old man this Friday evening to 14 years of criminal imprisonment for aggravated rape of a vulnerable person.

He was accused of having, on September 7, 2020 in Draveil, sexually assaulted a 24-year-old young woman suffering from serious psychomotor disorders and epilepsy.

The defense lawyer, Me Jacques Bourdais, pleaded for acquittal, recalling that his client has no prior record.

“I will appeal,” said the latter at the end of the hearing.

On October 7, 2020, the complainant was accompanied to the police station to report rape by the man she presented as her boyfriend.

The victim, who suffers from a language delay, gives a disjointed and sometimes contradictory version, claiming to have already had sexual relations with her attacker, then that he forced her.

The accused claims not to have perceived his disability

When questioned, the forty-year-old, who is also a neighbor, explains that the two had been dating for several weeks and admits to three sexual relations before September 7.

That day, he says they began to have sex, but were interrupted by the victim's mother screaming at the door.

The latter had heard of this relationship and disapproved of it.

His son had called the accused asking him to immediately stop seeing his little sister, due to the latter's pathologies.

But he kept saying that he did not realize his disability.

However, in addition to his relatives, all the people who approached the victim assure that he was almost immediately detectable.

Since the events, the young woman has attempted to end her life twice, her older brother declared in court.

His mother deplores that these “serious facts” have caused “a setback in learning”.

His state of health did not allow him to attend the trial.
