It is a lightning electoral campaign in which the various candidates in the municipal partial elections of Garches will engage.
They will only have a little over six weeks to convince voters, who will be called to the polls on March 17 and 24 to elect their new municipal council.
It was the resignation of the last 13 running mates of Mayor (LR) Jeanne Bessentiel, on January 22, which caused this election, a little over a month after the defection of five councilors from her majority, including her first deputy. Bertrand Oliviero, against the backdrop of complaints against the Director General of Services (DGS) for moral harassment and alleged misappropriation of video surveillance images against at least two municipal agents.
Yves Menel's 3rd attempt
If the lists have not yet been submitted, there could be four on the starting line.
Mayor since 2019, Jeanne Bessentiel is a candidate for her own succession and will therefore lead a list.
The resigning elected officials at the origin of this new election line up behind her, with the exception of Julien Magitteri, her deputy for economic development, trade, employment and sports.
He explains that he does not “want to participate in debates, which are intended to denigrate opponents rather than to talk about our city, its influence and its challenges”.

The various opposition groups and non-registered elected officials, who had formed a sacred union against Jeanne Bessentiel, left in dispersed order.
Designated heir of Jeanne Bessentiel's predecessor and beaten twice by the latter in 2019 and 2020, Yves Menel leads the “United for Garches” list.
He was joined by the former assistant for events and sports of Jeanne Bessentiel, who resigned in 2019.

Remaining first deputy, despite his departure from Jeanne Bessentiel's majority, Bertrand Oliviero is at the head of a "non-partisan" list behind which are the six elected representatives from Renaissance (ex-LREM), who were elected on the list of Jeanne Bavion in 2020, before breaking away and switching to the opposition in February 2022.
The two elected officials from the left-wing opposition group “Garches differently”, Philippe Herzog and Isabelle Le Madec should present a fourth list.
