The Kochler post office has been closed for a few days.

The good news: From February 20th things will continue in the old office building on Bahnhofstrasse.

Kochel am See – Many customers of the post office in Kochel have been standing in front of closed doors in the past few days.

Because the branch at Bahnhofstrasse 1 has unexpectedly closed.

Richard Wagner, who offered postal services there in his shop called “RW Zweiradservice”, is giving up the shop.

“I was terminated privately,” says Wagner.

Now he wants to change careers.

In the shop he offered used vehicles and spare parts for scooters, as well as some stationery items because these were otherwise not available for purchase in Kochel.

“I would have liked to stay in Kochel, but I couldn’t find anything here,” says Wagner.

He also ran the post office in this business for four years.

He will probably now settle “completely somewhere else,” says Wagner.

Moving for mail but only a temporary solution

There will be no post office in Kochel for three weeks.

As the company informed our newspaper when asked, the old post office building at Bahnhofstrasse 16, which is now a listed building, will be reopened on Tuesday, February 20th.

Employees have already been found, reports press spokeswoman Sonja Radojicic.

The expected opening times are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., says Radojicic.

It is “a temporary solution,” said the spokeswoman.

“We are still trying to find a branch partner in retail or another business in order to be able to offer our customers the best possible service.” Should business people in Kochel decide to take over a branch or even a DHL Parcel shops are interested, they can apply via Deutsche Post's online offer: www.deutschepost.de/partner- Werden.

The shop becomes Thomas Holz's constituency office

The constituency office of state parliament member Thomas Holz will soon be opening in the rooms at Bahnhofstrasse 1.

The former mayor of Kochl confirmed this when asked by our newspaper.

“Kochel is well connected via rail and public transport and, geographically speaking, is almost in the middle of the very large district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen/Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which I am responsible for,” writes Holz in an email.

“Since I won’t be taking over the rooms until the next few days, I won’t be able to provide further information about the start of operations until later.”
