Car manufacturers are struggling with the economic situation, but many people can still buy a Lamborghini sports car: the Audi subsidiary is celebrating a sales record.
Sant'Agata/Munich - The parent company Volkswagen is in turmoil, but the Italian luxury brand is doing great: Lamborghini had the most successful financial year of its existence in 2023.
The Audi subsidiary delivered more than 10,000 sports cars worldwide for the first time.
There are therefore no discernible trends among the particularly wealthy people that their incomes are shrinking in view of the economic situation.
Lamborghini record: More rich people than ever are buying a sports car
Lamborghini sold 10,112 models to the super rich last year, most of the sports cars were sold in the USA, where 3,000 units were delivered.
In second place - but by a large margin - is Germany, where 961 vehicles were sold.
Third place goes to China with 845 Lamborghini sports cars.
Fittingly, the traditional brand from Italy also celebrated its 60th birthday in 2023.
With an increase in sales of around ten percent, the sports car manufacturer from Volkswagen gave itself a magnificent gift.
The new sales record is based on the market launch of the brand's first plug-in hybrid, Lamborghini Revuelto.
The Lamborghini Urus sports SUV was also very popular.
“We see no signs of market weakness,” CEO Stephan Winkelmann was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.
According to the information, all Lamborghini sports cars have already been sold out until 2026.
So anyone who wants to buy a fast-paced model from the Italian Audi subsidiary will have to wait years for delivery.
Lamborghini is riding a wave of success - “careful with new technologies”
When it comes to electrification, Lamborghini is taking a different course than other car manufacturers: the first purely electric car will not be available from the traditional brand in 1963 until 2028, and Lamborghini is sticking with the combustion engine for as long as possible.
According to the CEO, Lamborghini sees no reason for hasty action when it comes to electric drives: “We want to come onto the market when we are the best and the technology is mature,” explains Winkelmann.

According to the German manager, Lamborghini would be well advised to “be careful with new technologies.”
In addition, according to a statement, the Audi subsidiary is planning the “largest investment plan in the company’s history” as part of a sustainability strategy.
The fact that Lamborghini is doing extremely well economically is also demonstrated by its intention to hire 500 new employees in the next two years.
