The Stadtsparkasse München has opened Barer41.
The converted branch in Maxvorstadt is intended to attract young Munich residents - but not only.
Munich – No bank counters, no terminals, no employees in suits or costumes: After its renovation, the Sparkasse branch on the corner of Barerstrasse and Schellingstrasse is no longer a classic branch.
Barer41: Stadtsparkasse offers project rooms
You could say: It's more of a fun fund.
Because there is free coffee and internet, colorful, comfortable upholstered armchairs - and you don't have to be a customer to rent project rooms.
This can be done online - and also for free.

Barer41 was officially opened on Thursday - that's what the branch is called to match its address.
The Sparkasse had the rooms converted for almost a million euros; the house belongs to the bank.
“We want to give young people the opportunity to get in touch with us personally,” explained CEO Ralf Fleischer.

Older customers can also get advice at Barer41
The rooms should also be a meeting place for young people where they can advance their own projects.
The location in Maxvorstadt was also chosen because of its proximity to the universities.
But young people and trainees are also welcome.

“We are also happy to help all older people,” said board member Sabine Schölzel.
The project is unique in Munich.
“All other branches remain as they are.”
Advice on stocks, tax returns and company formation
Since 2020, the Stadtsparkasse has been supporting young people via chat, telephone and video.
The branch should complement that.
“We want to create a center for financial education,” said Fleischer.
Because there are no bank counters, but there is advice.
Studies have shown that the need is there, explained project manager Ludwig Basel.
Barer41 will provide information on topics such as tax returns and starting a business.

For the first six months, the branch will be open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - longer for events or workshops.
You can withdraw money from the ATM outside - once it's working again.
Because it's currently broken.
