Everything is getting more expensive in Munich - but this has caused a particularly big stir: almost 15 euros for a bottle of water at the children's carnival in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof!

But now the hotel is giving in.

Munich - Did the little goblin play a practical joke?

Oh no, that was no longer fun for some parents of hungry and thirsty carnival children at the popular Pumuckl Ball in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof: a bottle of water cost 14.90 euros, a donut 6.50 euros.

“If Pumuckl knew that,” the tz then reported.

But now the Munich hotel actually had an understanding: the prices for the upcoming children's carnival balls were reduced.

Price shock at the children's carnival in Munich: “Must stay within limits”

The Schäffler family from Munich and their daughter Elena (3) were actually really excited about the Pumuckl Ball.

Program, atmosphere: everything was super cuddly.

But not the prices.

“I also know and understand that such events are expensive,” said mom Sonja Schäffler (43) to tz afterwards, “but that still has to be kept within some framework.

At least at children's parties."

Now the Bayerischer Hof is actually giving in: “As we always strive to offer a balanced offer that meets the needs and expectations of our valued guests, we will be offering a separate range of drinks tailored to children for the upcoming children's carnival balls,” announces Philipp Herdeg , the hotel's PR director.

Water, specialties – many things are becoming cheaper.

While a one-liter bottle of water previously cost 14.90 euros, half a liter is now available for 5.50 euros.

Spezi and apple spritzer (0.5 liters) now cost 5.50 instead of 8 euros.

The donut now costs 5.50 euros instead of 6.50 euros.

Increase in costs since the pandemic

Herdeg also justifies the previous prices in the “leading five-star hotel in Munich”.

On the one hand, the organizer, Narrhalla, was granted a greatly reduced room rent of 75 percent, in some cases even 100 percent, in order to enable access to a wider audience.

On the other hand, the drinks and food prices reflected “the high quality, first-class service and exclusivity that our guests can expect from an internationally renowned hotel like the Hotel Bayerischer Hof”.

Herdeg also points out: “Since the pandemic, for example, the costs of personnel have increased by around 16%, the cost of goods sold by up to 20%, energy costs by 83% and operating costs by up to 15%.” Philipp Herweg particularly emphasizes that The Bayerischer Hof is “not just a simple event venue”, but “a place that is known for its luxurious ambience and first-class services”.

Five-star hotel in Munich: price reduction for upcoming children's balls

Nevertheless, many parents will now be happy about the price reduction for the upcoming children's balls - even if some are still relatively expensive (a piece of cake, for example, still costs nine euros).

The new prices apply to the Monika's Circus Children's family ball on February 4th (sold out with 560 visitors) and the Herrrmann's Circus Children's children's masked ball on February 9th.

(Information at www.bayerischerhof.de).

Tickets are still available for this (admission 18 euros for adults, 16 euros for children) on Tel. 089/2 12 09 99 or by email to events@bayerischerhof.de.

A glass of Bayerischer Hof sparkling water should then easily be in it - to paraphrase Pumuckl: "There's still a gap in my stomach for a sip!"
