Preliminary data suggests that Tesla's compact electric SUV will take first place for the first time with around 1.23 million vehicles sold over twelve months.
The previous leader Toyota ended up in second and third place, with the RAV4 (1.07 million) and Corolla (1.01 million) models.
According to the information, Tesla's Model Y was the best-selling car in both Europe and China, regardless of drive type.
JATO explains that these are the two largest markets for electric vehicles.
According to the data institute, it is noteworthy that the Tesla SUV has a whopping increase of 64 percent compared to the previous year.

More than 450,000 models were shipped to China last year, and 255,000 Model Y units were purchased in Europe (30 countries were taken into account).
On the local continent, the US manufacturer has left popular combustion engines such as the Dacia Sandero, Peugeot 208 and VW T-Roc behind.
