The heat wave that is hitting Argentina these days is also hitting football.

Thus, to protect the health of the footballers - also that of the referees and the fans - the Professional Football League (LPF) announced this Friday the rescheduling of several matches on the third date of the League Cup to move as far away as possible. possible during the hours in which the Sun punishes most harshly.

This is a continuation of the decision taken on January 30, when the League authorities announced that they were analyzing the possibility of making a series of modifications to the “summer days.”

Knowing that high temperatures will continue next week, the matches on date 3 of the South Finance Cup scheduled for this Monday, February 5, will run between 30 and 60 minutes.

In the case of Zone A, the changes affected Banfield-Instituto de Córdoba, which was scheduled for Monday at 9:30 p.m. and time moved to 10:00 p.m. In Zone B, on the other hand, three games were affected: San Lorenzo-Unión (18.00);

Godoy Cruz-Lanús (17.30) and Tigre-Boca (19.45).

The matches scheduled for the night, although they are not so affected by the heat wave, were affected as a result of the shifting of those matches that must be played in the afternoon shift.

The idea is to avoid, as far as possible, that television broadcasts do not overlap.

The schedule of one of the matches on date 4 was also modified. It is Huracán-Independiente, which went from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

And it was announced that the duel between Rosario Central and Independiente Rivadavia will be played on Thursday the 8th at 7:30 p.m. at the Estadio Único de San Nicolás.

What does the regulation say?

“Local competitions are governed taking into account all agreements.

Especially the one that links Argentine Soccer Players with the other organizational levels.

And in that agreement it is clearly detailed that our competitions have two time limits according to the time of year, for the benefit of not exposing the health of the footballers too much

,” states the LPF announcement.

The regulations apply from November 15 to March 13;

During this period, no match will be agreed between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

That is why many dates start from that time.

However, the agreement dictates that the extension of the day is permitted if necessary, especially when it comes to climatic effects.

The LPF details that

“this definition of dates and times is based on studies carried out at the time by medical professionals, physiologists, physical trainers and even meteorologists.

According to these analyses, outside of those hours the health of the footballers does not run risks other than those usual in the competition.”

Because the heat extends into the late afternoon, it is expected that most of the afternoon matches in the upcoming dates will have to run their start times.
