The Erdweg local council received a lot of praise for the social worker Maximilian Rutz, because youth work in the community is a complete success.

Erdweg – Once a year, the Erdweg local council receives a report on the community’s youth work.

Maximilian Rutz has been working full-time in the municipality for two years.

And obviously has the gift of taking young people along with him in the truest sense of the word.

In any case, around 12 girls and boys accompanied him to the meeting.

Rutz organizes and runs the holiday program, does outreach youth work, is the contact person for all sorts of topics and is the head of the Juz at the train station, in which two youth rooms were renovated and made comfortable at the beginning of 2023.

Among other things, the young people transformed the former fitness room into a “chill room”.

“If a nail was driven in crookedly, that was okay too.

At least they did it once,” said Rutz.

The same applies to cooking together once a week.

“There are young people who have never cooked pasta.

We want to give them something to hand,” emphasizes Rutz.

Varied and unforgettable activities for young people

In the spring, 100 Easter eggs were dyed together and Easter nests were hidden for the younger ones.

Together they also created a new logo for Juz, which will soon adorn the facade.

During the summer holidays there was a party with 30 young people - for some the first ever.

There was also a trip to Skyline Park with other communities (Bergkirchen, Odelzhausen, Sulzemoos).

During the autumn holidays, the Juz was decorated into a horror house in which the young people could face their fears.

The 27-year-old is proud of the year-round holiday program with many activities such as monthly overnight stays and that he can also interest young people in taking part in the community's annual citizens' festival or the young citizens' meeting.

One aspect of this is to raise the political awareness of young people and to develop methods by which they can bring their concerns closer to the mayor.

The youth worker is also proud of quotes from his “protégés” such as: “It’s nice that the Erdweg community has a youth center with a leader where the young people can live out their lives in a protected environment.”

Outreach youth work also successful

The outreach youth work – usually twice a week – also seems to be bearing fruit.

“It has become quieter since I have been carrying out regular outreach work and there are hardly any complaints anymore,” emphasizes Maximilian Rutz, which Mayor Christian Blatt confirmed.

Another great success is the weekly learning café that Jule Koller runs - a pilot project in the district.

It enables free and individual preparation for school assignments.

Transfer options or conflicts are also discussed.

The learning café also provides assistance with applications or filling out applications.

In general, there is close cooperation with the Erdweg middle school.

At the end of his lecture, Rutz thanked Mayor Blatt and the local council for the good cooperation and received praise and applause in return.

“Keep it up,” said Alexander Winterholler (non-partisan voter community in Eisenhofen), for example, and his parliamentary group colleague Dominik Schöngruber said, looking into the rows of spectators filled with young people: “It’s cool that you’re there.”
