Highlights: “Delivery is delayed’: We are still waiting for containers for refugees. “We are working flat out to find solutions’, says Munich district office. There could be space for over 100 refugees in Grünwald, not far from the police station, and over 200 in Ottobrunn on Rosenheimer Landstrasse. Second construction phase on the Hachinger Haid in Unterhaching will soon go into operation. More newly arriving asylum seekers will also be accommodated here in the coming weeks.

The containers used as refugee accommodation are still a long time coming.

You can find out why here.

District - Just two months ago, the Munich district sent a call for help to the public: They were in the process of building transitional quarters for refugees and migrants or renting living space and were therefore asking owners to help.

The district office continues to have difficulties obtaining containers on the market to accommodate refugees.

“The delivery is further delayed,” the authorities said when asked.

This is due to global supply bottlenecks and high demand for steel and construction goods.

Dates promised so far have not been met.

Therefore, no forecast can be made as to when the accommodation can be expected, let alone when a move-in could take place at the locations in Grünwald and Ottobrunn.

There could be space for over 100 refugees in Grünwald, not far from the police station, and over 200 in Ottobrunn on Rosenheimer Landstrasse. The communities offered the properties many months ago.

The authority is working “hard” on a solution

Employees of the district office are now “working flat out to find solutions”.

At the moment it is apparently still possible in the Munich district to distribute the people currently assigned to existing accommodation in the communities.

By adding individual rental properties, current needs can still be temporarily covered, provided there are no massive changes in the allocation numbers.

The second construction phase on the Hachinger Haid in Unterhaching will soon go into operation, with the result that more newly arriving asylum seekers will also be accommodated here in the coming weeks.

The two complexes in Grünwald and Ottobrunn will consist of residential units each with three sleeping areas with two beds each and a lounge area assigned to the sleeping areas as well as a kitchen and bathroom.
