The community-religious settlement of Retamim, which belongs to the Ramat HaNegev Regional Council in the south, has known many conflicts with the residents of neighboring settlements from the Bedouin diaspora, but they have not seen such a case for a long time.
Early in the morning today (Saturday) members of the settlement's emergency squad were jumped after three suspects climbed over the perimeter fence and penetrated inside.
The class arrested the suspects, residents of the settlement of Bir Adaj and the Naot Hovav settlement and began their interrogation.
During the interrogation of those involved at the scene, one of the suspects asked a member of the emergency department to approach him, tore the handcuffs that bound his hands and pulled a knife from his pocket with the intention of attacking him.
The member of the emergency squad recognized the danger in time, shot at him with his personal gun and neutralized the suspect on the spot.
The suspect, a resident of the Naot Hovav settlement, in his 20s, was taken to the Soroka Medical Center in serious condition and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
