Shortly before the referendum in Rottach-Egern, there is reason for outrage: the statement by a demolition opponent about possible manipulation of the vote prompted the mayor and town hall manager to speak clearly.
Rottach-Egern
– The mistrust in the run-up to the Rottach referendum is apparently great.
Mayor Christian Köck (CSU) and town hall manager Gerhard Hofmann do not want to let Stefan Berghammer from the Support and Protection Association (FSG) even consider the possibility that those responsible in the community could manipulate the voting results.
“We strongly reject this,” they said in a statement to our newspaper on Friday (February 2).
The municipality reserves the right to take legal action due to statements made
“The opportunity creates the temptation,” Berghammer explained literally.
Köck and Hofmann see this as an affront to all helpers who will take part in the referendum count this Sunday (February 4th).
You see that Berghammer's words already constitute the offense of defamation.
“We reserve the right to take legal action against this statement,” says Hofmann.
Köck and Hofmann were not involved in counting the ballot papers
In this context, Köck makes it clear that in his role as First Mayor he will act as voting leader on Sunday.
“The local jurisprudence provides this.” Hofmann is his deputy.
Both of them are therefore not involved in the counting of the ballot papers.
The election workers deployed are tried and tested helpers who are obliged to be neutral and swear under oath that they are acting correctly.
Köck emphasizes: “We are a corporation under public law and as such adhere to the law.” Hofmann was shocked that there was apparently no trust in public institutions such as the municipality.
Originally, Berghammer and representatives of the FSG even wanted to take part in the counting themselves.
This was rejected by the town hall.
Now the demolition opponents are using the right to observe the public counting as silent spectators.
The result of the vote will be known between 8 and 8:30 p.m
As is well known, the vote on Sunday is about the future of the town hall.
According to Hofmann, it will be clear between 8 and 8:30 p.m. whether the citizens will vote for the demolition and new construction as desired by the community or for the renovation.
The preliminary result should then be available.
The citizens' initiative was initiated by Gunther Mair from Rottach, and the support and protection community simply supported the process.
