If you work from home a lot, set up an office.
It depends on the right chair.
Stiftung Warentest has rated some chairs.
Note to our readers:
We create product comparisons and deals for you.
To make this possible, we receive a commission from partners.
This doesn't change anything for you.
If you work a lot while sitting, in the worst case scenario you get used to a harmful posture.
Neck or back pain can then be the order of the day.
You can help with some back-friendly exercises - but you can also make sure in advance that you don't get any pain in the first place.
This can be done, for example, with the right desk chair.
It should be stable, resilient and safe.
Ideally, you can adapt this individually to your needs.
The right office chair can ensure that you have fewer back problems.

Office chairs in the test – Stiftung Warentest evaluates desk chairs
The result: sobering.
Only a few of the chairs tested by Stiftung Warentest perform well.
Ergonomics is a factor you can take into account.
If you work a lot while sitting, then you should make sure that your office chair offers comfort.
For example, it is important that you can adjust the backrest individually.
The seat height should also be adjustable and match the length of the lower legs.
The seat depth can be based on the length of your thighs.
By the way: One criterion for your new office chair could also be that it has a headrest.

How long do office chairs last on average?
It is not possible to say in general terms how long an office chair will last.
The quality of the chair is crucial.
For furniture, the general depreciation period is around 13 years.
However, it may be necessary to purchase a new office chair beforehand.
One criterion for this can be, for example, the wear of the seat.
If seat recesses are visible, the pelvis and therefore freedom of movement can be restricted.
If no seat depressions are noticeable after years of use, you may have an ergonomic chair with a convex shape.
The seating comfort is retained for a long time.
