If wanderlust gets the better of you again, all you have to do is look outside your front door.

Because there are many destinations in Germany that you should visit.

1 / 10Let's start our journey in Arizona in the southwest of the USA.

This is where the world-famous Grand Canyon is located, which delights millions of visitors every year.

The Colorado River has been digging into the stone here since time immemorial, creating this natural wonder.

2 / 10The Breitachklamm in the Allgäu is perhaps not as impressive as the Grand Canyon.

Nevertheless, visitors can explore the deepest rocky gorge in Central Europe here.

Here too, a river – the Breitach – has dug its way into the rock over thousands of years.

The narrowness of the Breitachklamm in particular impresses around 300,000 visitors every year.

3 / 10Younger than the Grand Canyon and Breitachklamm, but older than all the other entries on this list: the pyramids of Giza.

They were built over 4,000 years ago in honor of various pharaohs.

Year after year, crowds of tourists flock to Cairo's neighboring city to marvel at the last remaining ancient wonder of the world with their own eyes.

4 / 10 There are also mausoleums in Germany.

The closest thing to the Egyptian pyramids is the mausoleum of Count Ernst zu Münster near Hildesheim in Lower Saxony.

It was built in 1839 by the architect Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves.

At eleven meters high, it's not quite as high as the pyramids in Giza, but it's still worth a visit for pyramid fans.

5 / 10The Sydney Opera House represents Australia like no other building.

Who doesn't feel the urge to fly to the other end of the world and explore their dream travel destination when they see this?

6 / 10Like the opera house in Sydney Bay, the Elbphilharmonie juts out into the Elbe and is the youngest entry on this list.

Only completed in 2016, it has already established itself as a landmark in Hamburg in less than 10 years and, together with the Speicherstadt, attracts many tourists.

7 / 10The Colosseum in Rome represents the countless ancient sights of the Italian capital.

Of course, Rome's old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In general, Italy has 59 World Heritage sites, more than any other country in the world.

8 / 10The old town of Trier is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Porta Nigra in the picture as well as the amphitheater, thermal baths, Roman bridge, churches and basilica inspire countless fans of antiquity every year.

If Rome seems a bit far, why not go to Trier?

9 / 10We started this list in the USA and are ending it in the USA.

Manhattan's skyscrapers may no longer be the tallest in the world, but New York City still impresses with a unique atmosphere.

From the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building, many buildings are world-famous and have enchanted tourists for generations.

10 / 10If you add an 'i' to Manhattan, you end up with Mainhattan, the nickname of the city of Frankfurt am Main.

18 of the 19 tallest skyscrapers in Germany are in the Hessian metropolis.

Commerzbank, Messeturm, the new ECB and many other high-rise buildings provide the ultimate urban jungle feeling in Frankfurt.

And the best thing: you don't have to cross the Atlantic to visit Frankfurt.
