The Thuringian Greens are going into the election campaign with Madeleine Henfling and Bernhard Stengele as the top candidate duo.
They should ensure that the Greens manage to get back into the state parliament.
Jena - State parliament member Madeleine Henfling and Environment Minister Bernhard Stengele are to lead the Thuringian Greens as the top candidate duo in the election campaign for the state elections in the fall.
The approximately 100 delegates voted the two of them into the top two places on their state list in the Volkshaus Jena on Saturday.
Henfling received 83.3 percent of the 102 votes cast, with six votes against and eleven abstentions.
Stengele received 92.2 percent of the vote, with three votes against and five abstentions.
A new state parliament will be elected in Thuringia on September 1st.
According to surveys, the Greens in Thuringia have to worry about returning to parliament.
In recent surveys they were between four and six percent.
In the 2019 state election, they only narrowly made it into parliament with 5.2 percent.
