The reserve fighters of the 5th Brigade's combat team, in cooperation with the Air Force and the Yalam unit, destroyed a tunnel shaft that led to a hideout apartment of the terrorist organization Hamas and contained an underground elevator. Since the fighting began, and for 120 days, the fighters of the 5th Reserve Brigade's combat team fought under the command of Division 162 in the area of the Shati neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip.
At the beginning of the fighting, the fighters of the brigade were stationed in defense missions in the surrounding area and later they also fought in the depth of the strip.
The 5th Brigade Combat Team has completed its mission and will be replaced by other forces in the area.

The commander of the brigade, Col. Tal Kuritsky, said to his soldiers when they left the battles in the Gaza Strip: "I am proud of us for stubborn fighting, adherence to the mission, high-quality and determined fighting, for sacrificing for others, for our society and for the country.
I'm sure that when the brigade calls for the next mission, we'll show up and call ourselves... I was privileged to fight by your side, I'm proud to command you."
