Highlights: Chacarita captain Luciano Perdomo is close to leaving intensive care. The 27-year-old has been without an artificial respirator for 48 years. It is still unknown whether he will have to undergo a maxillofacial operation. The most optimistic believe he could do it by the end of the season. But it is most likely that he will not be able to return to football this year. Chacaritas debut in the 2024 season on Saturday at 5 p.m.

They took him off the respirator, he is lucid and he is already feeding through a tube. He is waiting in a common room and if he maintains his recovery he will soon be discharged. However, it is not yet known when he will be able to play again.

The news for

Luciano Perdomo

is encouraging.

Although he continues to be housed in an intensive care room at the Miter Sanatorium, where he arrived after a violent crash with his car on the way to Chacarita training,

his evolution allowed him to be on the waiting list for a common room.

.

The 27-year-old soccer player has been without an artificial respirator for 48 years and has a severe head injury as a result of the traffic accident in San Miguel del Monte when on January 22 he was traveling to his team's practice at the UTA property in Moreno.

The latest medical report indicates that Perdomo is “stable and lucid” and is feeding via tube, since his artificial respirator was removed on Wednesday.

Such is the severity of the case, that it is still unknown whether he will have to undergo a maxillofacial operation:

his face continues to be disfigured by the swelling

.

In this context

it is impossible to predict his return to football

.

The Chacarita medical team did not report a possible return to training.

“The focus is on another aspect, nothing that has to do with his football future is being evaluated,” club sources admitted.

Perdomo has no problems “from the neck down”, however the complexity is such that it is most likely that he will not be able to return to football this year.

The most optimistic believe he could do it by the end of the season.

Of all the prognoses,

none are medical

.

“We cannot talk about deadlines for his return to activity, but we estimate that in a few days, I don't want to talk about deadlines, but he will soon return home,” clarified the Chacarita team doctor, Martín

Romagnoli,

in dialogue with

Clarín

.

The doctor also said that the footballer is in good spirits and optimistic.

However, once he is discharged, he must undergo studies and evaluations from various specialists to treat the injuries that were left in the background due to the initial severity of his situation.

“He is going to go to the general room.

The evolution is very good, he is now conscious and lucid without respiratory assistance.

He has several fractures in the bones of his face, one in the septum that will be resolved by an otorhinolaryngologist, but it is not urgent: he can wait until he is discharged, in a second time,” explained Romagnoli.

Who is Perdomo?

Known as Puchi, the footballer was born 27 years ago in La Matanza and trained in the lower divisions of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

From there he went on loan to Aldosivi de Mar del Plata and then was loaned to the San Martín club, where he joined permanently after being released from Lobo.

He had just renewed his contract until the end of 2025.

Since he arrived in Chacarita, Perdomo established himself as one of the mainstays of the team that was one of the protagonists of the last season beyond having been left without the possibility of achieving promotion to the Professional League, which in the end was in the hands of Independent Rivadavia de Mendoza and Deportivo Riestra.

Chacarita will debut in the 2024 season on Saturday at 5 p.m. in San Martín, as the home of Deportivo Maipú.

"It is a difficult moment. It was a knockout blow, but he did not turn us around. We are standing, waiting for the evolution. He is our captain and we are going to wait for him," declared Anibal Biggeri, Funebrero's

coach
