A man arrested in Paris on Saturday morning in relation to a knife attack at the Gare de Lyon in which three people were injured is resident in Montalto Dora in the northern Italian province of Turin, sources have said.
The suspect is a Mali national aged 32 who reportedly received international protection in Italy in 2016 and is said to have received psychiatric treatment in the past.
Police have said the stabbing does not appear to have been an act of terrorism.
The suspect "clearly suffers from a psychiatric disorder," said police prefect Laurent Nunez.
The attack, which took place around 8 am local time, reportedly left one person seriously injured, but not in danger of dying, and two people with minor injuries.
