An inmate from Meaux-Chauconin prison appeared on Friday before the Meaux criminal court for threats he allegedly made.

“If I have to blade it... you unbelievers, it's like snakes, you have to cut off your heads for it to work”: these threats led to an inmate from the Meaux-Chauconin penitentiary center being brought to court - repeat offense - before the Meaux criminal court, Friday.

The man, aged 23, formally denied having made these threats - targeting the deputy director of the prison - in front of a guard on January 26.

That day, Anass was in the disciplinary unit.

“She misunderstood,” assured the defendant, both smiling and a little vehement from the box.

The tone is sometimes raised with the president.

“What exactly did you tell him?”

», wanted to know his lawyer Mr. Bogos Boghossian.

“I asked him if to be transferred or placed in solitary confinement, you had to sleep with a guard.”

This is because the inmate, imprisoned in Nanterre prison (Hauts-de-Seine) before his arrival in Meaux-Chauconin at the beginning of December, continues to demand his placement in solitary confinement.

The defense lawyer pleaded for acquittal

Theft with violence, fraud, threats against persons holding public authority, insults, carrying a weapon, refusal to comply, receiving stolen property: Anass's criminal record is already extensive.

And that's without taking into account the crime for which he was placed in pre-trial detention, namely attempted murder within the jurisdiction of Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis).

“It was a shootout with the police,” he soberly summarized.

The prosecutor's attorney Marlène Leroy requested 18 months in prison, with a committal warrant: “The defendant is in a power relationship with the State and with the authority.

This is not from yesterday.

He has an absolutely childish way of handling frustration.”

And the prosecutor drives the point home: “He chooses his words.

He doesn't just threaten, he knows very well which button he is pressing, given the context in France for ten years.

These are words that are much more frightening than simple threats.

Especially given his profile, since there are doubts about his radicalization.”

Mr. Bogos Boghossian initially welcomed the fact that his client had not been prosecuted for advocating terrorism: “He was able to annoy the court because he needed to provide explanations.

When he has an idea in his head, it can turn into an obsession.

He is worried about his safety in prison, which is why he requests solitary confinement.

He feels like no one hears him.

He had no intention of threatening this deputy director.”

The defense lawyer - who pleaded for acquittal - encouraged the judges to try to understand the context.

The defendant received a six-month prison sentence, with a committal warrant.
