Keeping traffic out of the town center – that was one of the ideas from planner Andrea Gebhard, which she presented to the citizens in the town hall.

In view of the uncertain future of the southern bypass, she wants to make Münchner Strasse unattractive for through traffic with lots of “peeks”.

How should Feldkirchen develop?

One answer to this question is: less traffic on Münchner Straße.

This is supposed to be ensured by “lots of little pricks” that annoy drivers.

Feldkirchen – Münchner Straße in Feldkirchen should become less attractive for traffic.

“I'm thinking of lots of little peeps, like lots of traffic lights, lots of zebra crossings,” explained local planner Andrea Gebhard.

The high traffic congestion is the biggest problem in the community that the new local development plan is intended to eliminate.

For the third time, the people of Feldkirchen were publicly invited to take part in the local development plan.

Once again the meeting room was full and citizens expressed specific wishes before the local council adopted measures.

“Need much more attractiveness”

Andrea Gebhard from the “Mahl Gebhard Concepts” office summarized the results so far: Significantly reduce traffic on Münchner, Hohenlindner and Aschheimer Straße, as well as at the intersection of Aschheimer and Münchner Straße.

The rapid implementation of the cycle path concept is just as important.

“We need much more attractiveness and shady seating in front of the train station and in front of the town hall, so we have to strengthen the town center - the goal is a donut effect and not a donut in which the center is hollowed out,” said Gebhard.

Feldkirchen needs to become greener and cooler, with large trees, seating areas and water beds.

“The citizens finally want results in facilities for senior citizens, densification in the town and the elimination of vacancies,” said Gebhard.

This also includes the quick breakthrough at the train station on the north side, as well as the fact that something is finally happening on the property at Kiesgrund.

The most important aspect of all citizens' arguments - from children to seniors - is the traffic congestion in Feldkirchen, which is simply far too high.

“In order for us to be able to fundamentally change something, the southern bypass has to come, but no one knows when it will come.

“I am not optimistic given the statements from the district office,” said local planner Gebhard.

In order to keep traffic on the A99 and A94, Münchner Straße in particular should be made unattractive for through traffic.

And this is where the “little peeps” come into play.

“We also have to change the digital route planners so that they don’t show Münchner Straße as a shorter and faster route,” said Gebhard.

Building authority manager Martin Schmidt-Roschow doubts the effect of the beepers: “They annoy drivers, but they don't stop them.

We therefore need not only the southern bypass, but also one in a north-south direction.”

Then the citizens had their say: Moni Rapp praised Gebhard's argument for changing the route planners.

“But there is no indication in town of a good bypass on the St2082 to Mömax in Aschheim.” Michael Lohner pointed out the already high traffic volume on Aschheimer Straße.

“If the gravel area is built on, several thousand new citizens will come there - they will all drive to Aschheimer Straße.

There definitely needs to be a second access road, for example to the St2082 or in the direction of Kirchheim." Werner Hassel lacks seating at the train station, "but you don't have to do anything in front of the town hall, the square is often used, right next to it is the green area at the maypole and also a A large garden at the Protestant church – that’s enough.” Karl Rupp pointed out that there were no development plans for many areas in Feldkirchen.

“An investor comes along, buys and builds – we can think about the future as much as we want.” Local planner Gebhard promised to incorporate the suggestions and turn them into a flyer that will be displayed everywhere.

“Then the local council must decide on the plan and concrete measures.”
