Each session begins and ends with the same ritual: the sound of a small gong and deep breathing, bringing calm and serenity to the entire small group.

The description might make you think of a meditation session in a group of adults, but the scene takes place in a nursery school.

The upper and middle section students of the Georges-Pompidou school in Gouvieux received this Friday the rector of the Amiens academy, Pierre Moya, curious to see in person the beginnings of learning expected to develop in all schools .

Like six other nursery schools in the department, the Gouvieux school is experimenting with the “school of emotions”, a project carried out in partnership with Thomas Villemonteix, lecturer in clinical psychology at Paris 8, specializing in preventive intervention in mental health in children in a school context and emotional regulation.

If the experience proves positive, it could be deployed more widely next year.
