The basis for the renewal of the Planegger ice wonder has been created: On Thursday, the main, finance and culture committee of the local council followed the recommendation of treasurer Katharina Gaspers to include 650,000 euros for the artificial ice surface at the Feodor-Lynen-Gymnasium in the draft budget.
Now it is up to the plenary session to make a fundamental decision.

The 2023 budget also set aside 650,000 euros for upgrading the ice miracle.
The money was never called because the committee could not reach an agreement and ultimately postponed the issue last April.
It was therefore too late to renew the aging and energy-intensive artificial ice surface in time for this winter.
The ice miracle was canceled for the third time in four years.
After the ice miracle had disappeared from the agenda for over half a year, a signature campaign by citizens and an inter-party motion in the local council provided new impetus in December.
There is not enough time for a complete package
This time too, time is short.
“If we want to open in the 2024/25 season, a complete solution cannot be achieved,” said Mayor Hermann Nafziger.
The technology can be renewed, “so that we can save 50 percent energy compared to the previous ice miracle.
But it doesn't go to zero ecologically." Two or three companies that can come up with concepts for an artificial ice surface presented themselves in the town hall and each emphasized that a possible overall package of ice surface with new technology, roofing and photovoltaic system could not be realized within a few months is.
“That’s enough to get us started,” says Nafziger about the 650,000 euros.
“Whatever we need additionally, we would have to provide in the following years.” He emphasized: “We are getting better and better in terms of energy, depending on which module step we take.”
Cornelia David (FWD) suggested shelving the point.
But the majority of the committee saw it like Peter von Schall-Riaucour (PP&M), who declared: “I am against an adjournment.
I want this in the house.”
Susanne Trenkle (FDP) thanked Nafziger “for further thinking about the ice miracle”.
In advance of the meeting, her group, together with von Schall-Riaucour, submitted a proposal to include 250,000 euros in the budget for 2025 and 2026 in addition to the 650,000 euros.
This should underline the intention to upgrade the ice wonder step by step and to enable roofing such as a photovoltaic system.
After Nafziger promised to automatically bring the topic back into the budget discussion in the following years if the local council voted in favor of the ice miracle, the application was withdrawn.
