Valley – The Historical Rifle Company Valley was recently founded.

This should primarily serve to preserve traditions, values and culture.

There was a large crowd at the founding meeting of the Valley Historical Rifle Company, to which Loris Marcus Gelesch and his colleagues had invited.

As expected, not a dozen interested people came to the Maxlmühle forest restaurant, but a whopping 65 citizens, from toddlers to experienced men and women, gave the meeting an impressive setting.

Goal: Preservation of traditions, values and culture

As Gelesch explained during the welcome, the club's formation as a historically structured rifle company is intended to keep alive the memory of the Valleyers who fell in the Sendlingen Murder Christmas in 1705 and to serve to preserve traditions, Christian values and the preservation of Bavarian-Alpine culture.

To set the mood, the Munich author and historian Hubert Dorn gave a short, exciting presentation that focused on the role of the Valley men who marched towards Munich in a fateful battle in 1705 as a result of the War of the Bavarian Succession.

There is historical evidence that one of the largest contingents was set up from the former Hofmark and Pfegamtes Valley as part of the “Churbairian State Defense” from the Bavarian Oberland.

The nurse responsible at the time, Maximilian Alram from Valley, not only brought in over 200 able-bodied men from the Hofmarks Valley area, but also, in consultation and division of labor with the nurse at the then Aibling nursing office, a significant number from the areas of Holzolling, Westerham, Feldkirchen and other hamlets and farmsteads recruited from the Aiblinger area.

In total there were almost 400 men.

Dorn also discussed the flag that was carried by the Valley residents at the time and was painted in just three days.

“I assume the painter from the Aibling area, who is unknown by name, took a Max Emanuel thaler from 1693 as a model, on the back of which was embossed a Madonna with the baby Jesus in her arms and the Bavarian coat of arms on her side,” said Dorn and added: “The chain of evidence speaks strongly for it.” With its traditional design with the Virgin Mary and the Bavarian coat of arms, the Valley flag, according to Dorn, is a unique combination and has practically become the template for all standards of the Bavarian mountain rifle companies.

But Dorn also did not forget to remind people of “dubious legends” and that the Sendlinger Murder Christmas was ultimately a brutal massacre with unspeakable human suffering.

Loris Marco Gelesch is first chairman and captain

The 50 voting members then unanimously decided on their board and main team in a secret ballot with Loris Marco Gelesch as first chairman and captain.

Andreas Berthold is second chairman and first lieutenant, Stefan Götz is treasurer and lieutenant.

The following were also unanimously elected by acclamation: Kaspar Riesenberger Jr.

as first ensign, Hans Klaus as second ensign, Bernhard Cyllok as third ensign and Franz Bernlochner as master rifleman.

The electoral period was set at three years.

Application for admission to the Association of Bavarian Mountain Rifle Companies

At the founding meeting it was also unanimously decided that the Historical Mountain Rifle Company Valley would submit an application for membership in the Association of Bavarian Mountain Rifle Companies.

“Out of respect, we initially called ourselves the Historical Rifle Company.

“But it is important for us to be recognized as a traditional club so that we can publicly use traditional, historical salute weapons as a significant feature of a mountain rifle company when deployed,” explained Gelesch.
