On February 6, 1934, Place de la Concorde in Paris, opposite the Palais Bourbon, while the deputies were in session and debating the inauguration of the Daladier government, there was a riot.
Results: 19 dead (including 18 rioters, demonstrators and onlookers, killed by the police) as well as 2,500 injured, some of them seriously (330 hospitalized).
The country is in shock, the emotion gigantic.
The left cries of an attempted fascist coup, the right denounces a despicable massacre of unarmed French people.
Neither side doubts that it represents justice, while the nightmare of civil war obsesses minds.
The political consequences of the tragedy will be immense.
