Is the next vacancy imminent?

Sport-Scheck reports the end of its location on Neuhauser Straße.

Linked to allegations against the landlord.

This is about desired rent reductions.

The next bad news for the pedestrian zone: the lights are going out at Sport Scheck - at least at the current location.

The reason for the end is not that Sport Scheck - as is well known - is bankrupt or that the insolvency proceedings could fail.

Instead, it's about the rental agreement, as the company says: "Sport Scheck and Bayerische Hausbau have been unable to reach an agreement on the continuation of the long-term rental agreement in the past few weeks."

That's why a new location is now being sought.

Bayerische Hausbau rejects the accusations that the bankrupt company makes towards its previous landlord.

Both parties leave it open when Sport Scheck will move out of the flagship store on Neuhauser Straße.

The only thing that is clear is that it was actually only announced in 2022 that the rental agreement would be extended - and in the “long term”.

Sport Scheck in Munich: Looking for a new location

A lot has happened since then: Sport Scheck, as a Signa subsidiary, had to file for bankruptcy on November 30th.

Bitter: At this point, the planned takeover by the British fashion retailer Frasers was almost a dead end.

However, the bankruptcy caused the deal to collapse.

At the end of January there was positive news from the provisional insolvency administrator Axel Bierbach: According to this, “a large number of interested parties” had submitted offers.

“Necessary cost reductions” are currently being negotiated:

Also with the landlords of the 34 German branches.

Specifically, this means: You should lower the rents.

That's probably what the dispute with Bayerische Hausbau is about - even if none of those involved say so.

Sport Scheck's accusation goes like this: "The owner of the property on Neuhauser Straße is not making any contribution to the renovation." Bayerische Hausbau counters: There were open discussions.

“Various scenarios were discussed and Bayerische Hausbau had already made significant financial contributions.” All of this came to nothing.

Now Sport Scheck is not only looking for an investor, but also a new location in Munich.
