The director of Centquatre-Paris is suspended from his duties during an administrative investigation within the cultural establishment, following a report and as part of a “
procedure relating to sexual and gender-based violence
”, said the Cent quatre on Saturday.
This artistic establishment of the City of Paris was informed by its president, Carine Rolland, deputy for Culture, “
that the City of Paris had received a report targeting José Manuel Gonçalvès, director, in the context of facts likely to take on a criminal classification of personal injury
,” he asserts, in a press release published “in agreement with the City of Paris,” sent to AFP.
“
The facts mentioned would have been committed within the framework of the director's duties during a business trip
,” adds the establishment, which speaks following information published on the Télérama magazine website.
“
Consequently, an administrative investigation was launched within the establishment.
It was entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the City of Paris, and concerns procedures relating to sexual and gender-based violence
.”
The establishment specifies that the director “
is subject to an administrative suspension measure, as a precautionary measure, for a maximum period of 4 months
”.
However, it does not mention the filing of a complaint and does not give further precise details on the facts which motivated the investigation.

According to Centquatre, an “
extraordinary board of directors was convened by the president in order to inform the directors of the situation
”.
The teams were also informed.
Clémentine Aubry, general secretary, assistant to the director, acts on an interim basis during the investigation.

Located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, the Centquatre houses performance halls, but also free spaces for artistic practices, and defines itself as a place “
