The first national week of scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical disciplines (Stem), established last November by law 187/2023 with the aim of raising awareness and stimulating children's interest and choice for these disciplines, starts tomorrow and runs until 11 February.
Numerous initiatives promoted by the Ministry of University and Research together with universities and research institutions, including multi-laboratories, exhibitions, study days, meetings, lessons for the little ones.
"When we talk about the future, innovation and progress we talk about STEM. We need highly specialized professional figures and to increasingly incentivize students to choose these disciplines - explains the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini -. The Ministry has put various orientation measures are in place and a scientific degree plan to increase enrolments, reduce dropouts and promote gender balance. We work every day to provide those who study with all the useful tools to cultivate their vocation and talent. This week Let's renew our commitment to explain what a STEM choice means in this era of rapid change."
On the occasion of #stemweek, Mur launches the social campaign 'I am Stem' aimed above all at young people.
The Nobel Prize winner Giorgio Parisi, the scientist Amalia Ercoli Finzi, the physicist Lucia Votano, the neuroscientist Giulio Deangeli, the astronomer Marica Branchesi, the marine biologist Mauro Celussi: they will be exceptional 'testimonials' to promote the choice of technical-scientific disciplines among students .
Through the MUR web portal, on the dedicated page, it is possible to consult all the events organized by universities and research institutions for these seven days of orientation and promotion
