A security officer of the settlement of Retamim identified three suspects early in the morning today (Saturday) who climbed over the perimeter fence of the settlement and penetrated into it.
The settlement's standby force was dispatched to the scene and arrested the three suspects, residents of the settlement of Bir Adaj and the Naot Hovav settlement.
According to the police version, during the investigation of those involved at the scene, one of the suspects asked a member of the emergency department to come closer to him, tore the handcuffs attached to him and pulled a knife from his pocket.
The member of the emergency squad, who recognized the danger, shot at him with his personal licensed pistol and neutralized the suspect on the spot.
The suspect, a resident of the Naot Hovav settlement, in his 20s, was taken to the Soroka Medical Center in serious condition and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police forces that arrived at the scene conducted searches, collected evidence and findings at the scene, and arrested 2 residents of the settlement of Bir Adaj, who were taken to the investigation conducted at the Segev Shalom station of the Negev region in the southern district.
According to the preliminary investigation, the background to the incident is criminal.
