2024-02-03T10:40:06.590Z

Highlights: Wolf pups officially documented in the “Staffelsee West” area. At ten to 22 months, the young wolves leave their parents' territory and look for their own. At six to seven months, they are already almost as big as their parents and run along with the other pack members - so the animals would have reached this age by now. After a good two months an average of four to six young are born, says the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) The LfU does not provide any more detailed information about the location.

Wolf offspring in the so-called Staffelsee-West region, which also includes large parts of the local district: The Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) has documented photo evidence of three puppies.

District - In Bavaria there are animals that are loyal to their location in nine regions, writes the LfU.

One such area is the one called “Staffelsee-West”.

A wolf is considered to be faithful to its location if the animal is detected over a period of more than six months or if a male and a female “mark their territory together or reproduction is documented”.

Such “proof of reproduction” has now been provided with a photo taken on November 28th.

The LfU generally does not provide any more detailed information about the location.

Gender, age and the like cannot be determined more precisely from the picture, says deputy press spokesman Marko Hendreschke.

General: “Mating season for wolves is the end of February to mid-March, after a good two months an average of four to six young are born,” writes the LfU.
